The leading IT service provider LogicaCMG will work for the Galileo programme which is sponsored by the European Space Agency (ESA) and the European Union. For which a deal of 20million Euros is accorded. LogicaCMG has been assigned to work on the three major areas, the Public Regulated Service Key Management Facility, the Mission Key Management Facility and the Ground Control Segment Key Management Facility. Galileo will become Europe’s own global navigation satellite system which will ensure accurate global positioning service. Sylvain Loddo, ESA’s Galileo Systems, Ground Segment and Operations Manager said: LogicaCMG has proved in earlier work on Galileo to have a sound understanding of the facilities needed to manage the 30-satellite Galileo system, and to have an innovative and pragmatic approach to solving the many technical challenges. They have also proved to be a reliable supplier of mission-critical, software-intensive systems on EGNOS, ESA’s precursor to Galileo.
